A.C.T. Season Branding

I was commissioned to create seamless artwork for American Conservatory Theater’s 2018-19 season. Previously, all the posters had completely different looks, the art being entirely defined by the show and the artist who made it. This year, we decided that it was important to sell the season as a whole, as their goal was to sell subscribers an entire season package versus one individual show.

With the addition of a new artistic director, Pam Mackinnon, and a collection of shows that shared themes of exploration, we decided to give A.C.T.’s season a fresh look that was removed from stock imagery and was created entirely by hand. Additionally, colors from each show were placed throughout to create subtle visual consistency while also maintaining individual identity.

Due to the multiple sizes and formats in which the art is used, the art allowed space for billing and quotes, and each title was hand-lettered and made as flexible as possible for various backgrounds and/or lock ups.
